General Questions

How can I use these databases?

You can use them on your computer for personal use, or as the content for a web site.

What formats are available?

We offer a SQL dump for MySQL, Access, Excel, and Text versions for most of our databases.  We can also convert these to special formats, such as Paradox, PDF, Word, and many others. When you purchases one of our databases, you are entitled to one special conversion at no charge.

What is the structure of the databases?

Most have just a single table, but some have multiple tables.  We can provide help for the multiple-table databases, if needed.

Are the databases fully categorized?

Not necessarily.  All of them are categorized at least in a primary category.  Some offer up to 4 categories, and may be partially categorized. Let us know if you have a question on a specific database.

What's the difference between the "Regular" and "Resale" versions?

Regular versions are for your personal use or use on a single website.  Resale versions allow you to resell the database.

What is your policy on "product returns"?

We try to help you install and use your database, but if all else fails, we will refund your money.

Installation

What help is available for installation?

Help via email is available to everyone.  In complicated situations, we will provide support by phone, and can sometimes remotely install your database.

How do I install the MySQL version?

Using phpMyAdmin or similar program, you must first create a new database with no tables.  Then run the sql script (i.e., the database script), and it should import all of the tables into your database.

How do I use the Access version?

This is a stand-alone database normally used for ASP websites.  You simply create a connection to your database from your web pages in the normal way.

How do I use the Excel version?

Excel is useful because it can be imported or converted into many formats.   We do not offer an Excel version for databases that have large fields, because Excel will truncate them.

How do I use the Text version?

Our text version is a tab-delimited file, and so can also be imported into Access or other formats.

Scripts

Are scripts available for these databases?

Generally no, but check our Order Page.  If you need a script or website template, contact us for a quote.

Free Lists

What are the Free Lists?

These are small "databases" or files that other webmasters may find useful.  For example, a list of States, countries, Months of the year, etc ... for pull-down menus or other uses.

How can I contribute to the Free Lists?

We encourage webmasters to upload such files so we can make them available to others. There is a form available on our website in the Free List section.

Database Vendors

I have a database: Will you sell it for me?

Assuming your database has no copyright or other restrictions, we may be interested in selling your database.  We have two models:  (1) outright purchase, and (2) commission basis.
